Finance has no accounts, so anything it remembers about you is kept in your own browser. It keeps two things, your watchlist and your chart settings, and only when you have turned on the optional privacy choice called Saved preferences.

#What is kept

Kept The most it holds
Your watchlist: the symbols you follow 50 symbols
Your chart settings: the chart type (Mountain, Line or Candles), and whether Volume, Previous close, Dividends & splits, News volume and each of the indicators are on One set, used on every chart

#What is not kept

The range you choose on a chart, the symbols you add to a comparison, a table's sort order and the tab you have open last only for the page you are on. The Compare page keeps its list in the address instead, so a bookmark holds it. See Compare stocks.

Your theme (Hybrid, Light or Dark) is a separate display setting. See Choose Hybrid, Light or Dark.

#If Saved preferences is off

Everything still works. Following a stock explains that it needs cookies and offers to turn the choice on; see Your watchlist. Chart settings still work, but last only until you leave or reload the page.

#Turn it on or off

You can turn it on when you first follow a stock, or in the privacy panel. Open the round shield button at the bottom left of any page, find Saved preferences and switch it on, then select Save choices. Switching it off deletes your watchlist and chart settings at once. Turning it on again does not bring them back.

The full explanation is in Saved preferences.

#Delete them yourself

Clearing your browser's cookies and site data for this site removes both, and also your privacy choices, so the banner returns. See What stays in your browser, and how to clear it. To remove a single stock, use the cross at the end of its row on the Watchlist page, or select Following on its page.

#Common questions

Why do my chart settings reset when I reload the page?

Saved preferences is probably off. Without it, settings last only for the page view. Turn it on in the privacy panel.

Will my settings follow me to another device?

No. They live in one browser on one device.

Can 4Search see my watchlist?

The watchlist is not stored on 4Search's servers. The symbols on it go with the requests that fetch their prices, which is how the page can show them, and those requests are part of ordinary request records. See the Privacy Policy.
